MLS strugglers DC United and Atlanta United meet at Audi Field on Saturday evening. Both teams are currently on three match losing streaks and are falling way behind the pace in the race for an Eastern Conference play off place. DC have won just one of their last nine MLS games, and are now 11 points outside of the wild card positions. Barring a remarkable turnaround in form, they are going to miss out on the postseason for the sixth year in a row.
Atlanta have had an even worse time of it this year. They are one point behind DC and only three points above Conference bottom side Montreal. The 3-1 reverse to Columbus Crew last weekend was Atlanta's 10th of the campaign, and a season that started with sky high expectations is rapidly turning into one to forget.
